PS5 and PS4 players can temporarily try out another major multiplayer game for free without a PS Plus subscription. Those who aren’t new to the PlayStation ecosystem will remember playing GTA Online for free on the PS3, but those days are long gone. Rockstar Games and Sony have now teamed up to offer two weeks of free GTA Online without the need for PS Plus.
Play GTA V multiplayer for free without PS Plus until December 24
For those who missed it, GTA Online has received another major update, Agents of Sabotage. As pointed out by X user Tez2, every big GTA Online content drop comes with free online play promotion. So, those who own a copy of GTA Online but don’t have an active PS Plus membership can relive the PS3 days by playing the game for free until December 24.
The promotion has garnered a mixed response from players. “It sucks on both [PlayStation and Xbox] platforms paying to play online, but blame Sony for PlayStation’s part in this,” wrote one player. “I had the PS3 and remember the glory days of playing online without paying a dime,” wrote another.
Unfortunately, those days are unlikely to ever return, so enjoy the freebie while you have it.
