CD Projekt RED announced back in March of this year that it’s sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 was “done,” and that players shouldn’t expect any more big content updates.
Even then however, the studio didn’t rule out the chance of it providing “little” updates to the game that weren’t just bug fixes or general maintenance, if they had time to do so, that is.
Well it looks like they found the time, because today CDPR announced that it’ll host a new episode of its RED Streams, where it’ll showcase new features set to arrive in Cyberpunk 2077 “soon.”
To check out the stream when it goes live, it’ll be available on YouTube and Twitch beginning at 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET.
These incoming features will arrive in an update called Update 2.2, but for now we’ve no idea what they are – we do however know what they’re not. After the news was posted to Twitter, the replies immediately asked if this was the news that, contrary to what CDPR said previously, there will in fact be a PS5 Pro patch for the game.
The studio said that this will not be the case, replying to multiple users who asked with what they had already publicly stated, that the team has “no plans for the PS5 Pro patch.”
It should be pointed out though that while CDPR directly refuted that a PS5 Pro patch was incoming, it didn’t do the same for new game plus, another highly-requested feature. So there’s still a chance (however slim) that tomorrow’s news will be the arrival of NG+.
Besides, tomorrow is the four-year anniversary of the game’s launch, and this will likely be the very last major update the game gets. If we can’t hope for new game plus now, we’ll never get another chance, since CDPR has mostly moved on to other projects.
