Days Gone director John Garvin doesn’t seem thrilled that PlayStation’s 30th anniversary trailer leaves out Bend Studio despite its contributions to the console’s history. The two-minute heartfelt tribute to fans, subtitled ‘Thank You,’ features a variety of games including Bloodborne, with Garvin pointing out that the trailer doesn’t acknowledge Bend Studio at all.
Is Sony really ‘ignoring’ Days Gone and Syphon Filter?
It’s true that trailer doesn’t feature any of Bend Studio’s games, but to be fair, there’s only so much Sony can pack into two minutes and quite a few noteworthy franchises didn’t make the cut. Additionally, the trailer doesn’t revolve around PlayStation exclusives, and includes quite a few third-party multiplatform games.
You can see both Garvin’s tweet and the trailer in question below.
Back in September, Garvin attracted a lot of criticism for his tweet about Days Gone protagonist Deacon St. John’s inclusion in Astro Bot. He complained that the character has been “reduced to promoting other games” despite the fact that Astro Bot features characters from a plethora of games and franchises both first and third party.
For its part, Bend Studio seems fed up with Days Gone discourse, and is quietly working on a new IP, which has yet to be revealed.
