Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fuelled
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fuelled is one of my favorite racers in recent years, with the game bundling the old Naughty Dog-developed kart racer into one parcel. Given that ‘kart racer’ is so synonymous with Mario Kart, you’ll forgive me for making the disclaimer that Beenox’s remaster is nothing like Nintendo’s pedigree racer.
No, CTR is hard but fair with beautifully constructed drifting, boosting mechanics, and difficulty levels that never hold your hand. The items are nicely balanced and some of the time trials you’ll need to complete will make your fingers bleed. Plus, stylistically, it’s absolutely a podium-placed finish. I highly recommend checking this out!

DayZ
- Will you survive the DayZ achievements?
- Joining Game Pass on: December 4
- Game Pass Tier: Core, Ultimate, PC
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
In the Game Pass Core tier, users will be getting access to the legendary open-world survival game DayZ. Having started as an Arma 2 mod, its massive and realistic open-world map has you and other online survivors trying to stay alive by any means necessary. Sounds great, right?
Well, it’s brutal. You’ll run into gangs of online players ready to make you their slave and, maybe, even become a scallywag yourself in the pursuit of keeping food in your belly and a modicum of power over your mates. It’s a fascinating time!

Forza Motorsport
Forza Motorsport first raced into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass in October 2023, but now Game Pass Standard subscribers can finally get in on the action. With over 500 cars, 27 world-famous tracks to master, an excellent physics model, and gorgeous visuals, Forza Motorsport is one of the best Xbox racing games around.
For those going after the Forza Motorsport achievements for the first time, you’ll need to set aside around 150 hours for the 1,000G. The completion is a test of endurance and pretty tricky, so only the most dedicated will get this one finished.

Goat Simulator
- Have fun messing around with the Goat Simulator achievements?
- Joining Game Pass on: December 4
- Game Pass Tier: Core, Ultimate, PC
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
Yep, you are also getting the Goat Simulator on Xbox Game Pass Core this month. Is it good? Is it bad? This wild ride in physics simulation is certainly something — funny, I suppose!
You’ll be playing as a goat and messing about in a free-form world where you can end up doing some wild things. From jetpacks to satanic rituals, it’ll all make you laugh. Then your poor goat legs will get glitched through a wall, you’ll laugh even harder, reset the game, and wonder what on earth Goat Simulator is.

Hauntii
- The Hauntii achievements take us on a ghostly puzzling adventure
- Joining Game Pass on: December 4
- Game Pass Tier: Standard
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
Hauntii joined Xbox Game Pass Ultimate earlier this year and is now on the way for Xbox Game Pass Standard. It tells the tale of a little ghost on a quest through the afterlife, on a mission for the truth about their past life, and a way to move beyond the afterlife.
It’s an entirely different experience — a combination of twin-stick shooting action, haunting powers, and puzzles, all wrapped up in an eye-catching two-tone art style.

Humanity
- Are you smart enough to collect the Humanity achievements?
- Joining Game Pass on: December 4
- Game Pass Tier: Standard
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
I’m a very dull lad, so I’ll never be smart enough to understand the Lemmings-style puzzler Humanity. However, I watched my colleague Lee Brady enjoy it immensely as he led humans around blocky stages with a god-like dog (a Shiba Inu, if you must know). It was a brain-teasing time for him, particularly as he navigated those poor people through more than 90 stages of rapidly increasing complexity.
It’s become regarded as a modern puzzle classic, so if you love stimulating your brain with an odd concept and well-designed levels then this is for you. Throw in a great soundtrack and a variety of ways to get humans climbing, flailing, and falling to safety, and you’ve got the spice of life, too! Humanity is a lovely time for fans this month.

EA Sports WRC
- Rip and roar through the EA Sports WRC achievements
- Joining Game Pass on: December 5
- Game Pass Tier: Ultimate, PC
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, Cloud
When EA Sports took on the WRC license a few years ago and gave it to legendary racing developer Codemasters, it managed to construct a strong first entry. EA Sports WRC is loud and dirty, just as rallying should be. It has beautiful courses set in an array of real-life locations, and, when you’re just looking and hearing the attention to detail, it’s an impressive title.
However, Career Mode is more limited than I’d like and sometimes the technical performance leaves a bit to be desired. However, as a new racing game for Xbox Game Pass players, I think it’s a great alternative if you’ve played Forza Horizon already! In any case, as soon as you feel the skid of a rally car drifting over gravel, you’ll be hooked!

Overthrown
- We’re waiting to see if the Overthrown achievements arrive with this Game Preview launch
- Joining Game Pass on: December 5
- Game Pass Tier: Ultimate, PC
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Cloud
Overthrown launches into Game Pass as a Game Preview title on December 5, when it’ll bring the interesting combination of a soul-stealing crown, kingdom management, and anime-protagonist-esque abilities.
You can play with a group of friends with up to six-player co-op, and then all you have to decide is who’s doing what: who’s fighting off enemies, who’s building and managing the kingdom, and who’s taking charge of your villagers.
As the name suggests, Overthrown involves a lot of throwing, because of those superpowers you get from that magical crown. You can fling trees, buildings, monster nests, and more, as well as zoom across water and spin into the air like a helicopter. It’s a wild ride.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a fresh story in Indy’s saga and sees us traveling the globe to uncover the mysteries of the titular Great Circle. Set in 1937, Indy’s new quest kicks off a year after the events seen in the Raiders of the Lost Ark movie, taking us on a first-person action-adventure across the sand-strewn dunes of Giza to the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.
After getting a taste of the game during my Indiana Jones and the Great Circle preview earlier this year, I am buzzing with excitement for this game. It plays much like an interactive Indiana Jones movie, emphasizing adventure and puzzle-solving over combat, although you’ll have plenty of opportunities to give a few fascists a beatdown when not crawling through tombs, filling your journal with lore, and playing around with disguises. It’s almost here now, and I can’t wait!

Wildfrost
- We’re keeping an eye out for the Wildfrost achievements when this game hits Xbox for the first time
- Joining Game Pass on: December 10
- Game Pass Tier: Ultimate, PC
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC
Wildfrost is probably the one here I’m most excited about, and it is definitely suited to winter. It’s a roguelike deckbuilding game with tactical elements in which you’re trying to defeat the eternal winter: the Wildfrost itself.
You’ll need to put together a deck, recruit new companions, find treasure, and expand the hub town of Snowdell, which will in turn reward you with new cards, cosmetics, and so on. The choose-your-path aspect as you head out into the wilderness looks a little reminiscent of Slay the Spire, which can only be a good thing.

Carrion
- Don’t let those Carrion achievements scare you; you are the one doing the scaring!
- Joining Game Pass on: January 2
- Game Pass Tier: Ultimate, PC, Standard
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Cloud
Some of you may be familiar with Carrion already, given it’s already been in Xbox Game Pass. Well, now the ‘reverse horror’ game is back in all of its solid Metroidvania-style glory. Carrion is a good game, particularly because it doesn’t wear its ideas out as it remains a nice eight-hour completion.
You’ll be eating your enemies in a haze of blood in pixilated stages. Your creature will get more and more power and more and more death and destruction will ensue. Hop in for a great quick weekend game, if Metroidvania is your style!

Road 96
- Head on a road trip with the Road 96 achievements
- Joining Game Pass on: January 7
- Game Pass Tier: Ultimate, PC, Standard
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Cloud[
Road 96 has a number of big influences behind it: The Coen Brothers and Bong Joon-ho, for starters, and sees you on a road trip heading for the border to escape the authoritarian rule of Petria.
The game pairs a distinctive art style with 90s music (it’s set in the summer of 1996) and sees you meeting new people, making decisions, and dealing with the ramifications, all while racing down routes on your way to freedom on a procedurally generated road trip.
With new additions like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled on the way, we could see new contenders for our list of the best Game Pass games. While we wait for these ten treats to arrive, we’d love to know which games you’re looking forward to playing. Drop a comment below and let us know!
