The developer of Nightingale, Inflexion Games, has made layoffs as it undertakes a restructuring process.
GI.biz reports that “dozens” of staff are being impacted by this move, which the company says is in part due to the “broader trends” within the industry. One anonymous employee said that at least 22 people have been laid off.
It also appears that Nightingale has not been as commercially successful as Inflexion might have liked.
“After exploring numerous options, we made the difficult decision to restructure our studio to ensure our long-term sustainability,” Inflexion said in its statement.
“Sadly this means saying goodbye to a number of incredibly talented and dedicated team members.
“Our focus throughout this process has been to handle it with compassion, respect, and care for every individual affected. We are doing everything we can to help them navigate this period and find new opportunities.”
Inflexion was founded by Improbable back in 2018 with BioWare vet Aaryn Flynn at the helm. The SpatialOS maker then sold the studio to Tencent four years later.
Inflexion released Nightingale into Early Access in February of this year. The game had a pretty rough start – reflected by its overall Mixed reviews on Steam – though it is worth noting that its recent reviews are Very Positive.
