It was previously leaked that Firesprite Studio is working on a “dark” narrative driven game, with all signs pointing to the horror genre. It seems this game is Until Dawn 2, a sequel to Supermassive Games‘ 2015 cult classic.
Rumored Firesprite Studio horror game is Until Dawn 2
The Until Dawn 2 rumor comes from Xbox Era co-founder Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker via X (formerly Twitter). In a recent quote tweet, Baker remarks he is “annoyed” he couldn’t leak the sequel himself. However, he did share that rumored game is developed by Firesprite Studio.
“Call me selfish, but I’m annoyed I wasn’t able to leak. I knew about this,” says Baker in his quote tweet. “But here’s some more info I heard about this sequel. Apparently, it’s Firesprite making it.”
Rumors began swirling about Firesprite Studio’s horror game in 2022. Much of the information known came from job postings and employee resumes. Listings revealed the developer is working on a AAA game with a “heavy focus on art, animation, and delivering unique character performances to heighten player presence and immersion to new levels.” It also mentions the studio promising to take “atmosphere, storytelling, player agency, and narrative firmly into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.” Nothing ever explicitly lists Until Dawn 2 as the project, but it does fit these descriptions pretty well.
Of course, like any leak or rumor, it should be taken with a grain of salt. Baker doesn’t have a perfect track record, but he has been spot on in the past, including with information he posted about the Ghost of Tsushima PC port that released earlier this year. The leaker also hinted that Rocksteady is making a new Batman game. Regardless, we’ll know for sure who is working on Until Dawn 2 when, and if, it formally gets announced.
While Until Dawn 2 may be years away, the Until Dawn remake launches very soon. Like, tomorrow soon, on October 4, 2024, for PS5 and PC.
