Bandai Namco Games has debuted the first Tekken 8 Heihachi Mishima gameplay trailer, and if you’re a fan of the old man, you’re in for a treat. Heihachi, in his own words, is back ‘stronger than ever.’
The original King of Iron Fist himself never stays dead for long (let’s see now; he’s been thrown off a cliff, blown up, thrown into a volcano – did I miss anything?), and it doesn’t look like his lava bath slowed him down. There’s a lot of recognisable moves in the trailer, including his Electric Wind Godfist, Demon Uppercut, and more, but plenty of new strings too, not to mention his Heat looks devastating.
The trailer confirms that Heihachi will be released on October 3, 2024, while early access players can access the Iron Grandpa on September 30, so there’s not long to wait at all. Furthermore, Heihachi arrives with a new stage and story chapter, titled Unforgotten Echoes, which is a free update.

Heihachi Mishima was featured in the original Tekken way back in 1994 as the last boss of the game. Tekken 2 made him a playable character for the base roster, and he returned as a sub-boss in Tekken 3 the final boss of Tekken 4. The grandfather of Jin Kazama also returned in Tekken 5, Tekken 6, and Tekken 7, the latter where he was supposedly killed off for good. Yeah, that lasted long!
Tekken 8 is now available for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
