Xbox won’t offer early access for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
In recent years, Activision has offered an early access period for Call of Duty players who wanted to smash out the campaign before the multiplayer and Zombies modes arrived. It was a preorder bonus, and while last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign wasn’t received too well, being able to play through the campaign early meant players could all level up in multiplayer at the same time.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the first game in the franchise to launch as a first-party Xbox game, launching straight into Game Pass, and it looks like Microsoft has different plans from what we’re used to.
As shared by CharlieIntel on X, a statement from Activision reportedly says that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 won’t have an early access period. “The team is fully focused on October 25,” an Activision spokesperson said. “We are excited about all the game has to offer across Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig in to any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25. As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.”
Last month, Activision took steps to begin reducing the ridiculous Call of Duty file sizes ahead of Black Ops 6’s launch in October.
