Capcom and Microsoft work together to bring fighting collections to Xbox
If you missed it, Capcom unveiled Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics in June — a compilation featuring some of the finest retro fighting games out there. However, much to the chagrin of Xbox fans, the collection was only announced for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Fast forward to August, and Capcom would skip Xbox with another retro fighting game collection: Capcom Fighting Collection 2.
It was rumored that Capcom couldn’t bring these games to Xbox because of technical issues with the publisher’s MT Framework engine and the Xbox platform. Now, Capcom has announced on X after speaking with Microsoft, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 are coming to Xbox One in 2025.
“We’re happy to announce that after technical discussions with our partners at Microsoft, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will release on Xbox One. Both Xbox versions arrive in 2025, so stay tuned for more information.”
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics includes seven games: X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, and The Punisher.
As for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, this compilation includes the following eight fighting games: Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER, Project Justice, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, and Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein.
Each enhanced collection features a bunch of new features and content, including online play, training modes, behind-the-scenes content, mid-game saves, and much more.
With so many great games bundled into these collections, perhaps they’ll make our list of the best Xbox fighting games.
