Star Wars: Outlaws will release everywhere for everyone on Friday, August 30, 2024, and at time of writing it is not yet Friday, but the game is already out for plenty of people.
Those people paid extra, either through their Ubisoft+ subscription or by purchasing the Gold or Ultimate versions of the game, in part to play it a few days ahead of its standard launch.
Now however, the games latest update, Patch 1.000.002 has entirely soured the games launch for some players. Some of the players who paid extra for an early access period are now having to restart their games, after losing all of their progress due to a bug in the update. It should also be noted that this is an issue that for now seems to be exclusively for PS5 players.
One player allegedly received an email from Ubisoft after submitting a report on the issue. In return, according to the image shared here by Greg Miller of Kinda Funny shows Ubisoft offering digital currency to its own digital storefront as a form of compensation for the inconvenience.
It’s not an issue that has impacted all players, so if you didn’t see this before turning off auto-update, and already find it set to 1.000.002 then you might still be alright.
All things considered this can’t be the launch week Ubisoft had in mind. While PSU was mostly favourable in our review, we emphasized the caveat of having to be quite the Star Wars fan, if you wanted to look beyond its rough parts.
Positive-to-middling reviews that recount complaints Ubisoft has heard before, and now a bug impacting the players who directly financially supported the game more than others likely isn’t what Ubisoft was going for.
