At this point, I think we can safely assume that nobody is going to spend their hard-earned money on tickets to see the Borderlands movie. The reviews from fans and critics have been absolutely scathing, and frankly, I think we all deserved better. Borderlands is a looter-shooter franchise that has a surprising amount of lore carried by a particular brand of humor that gets lost in its translation to the big screen. If you’d like to experience what is still the best version of Borderlands, you can currently pick up the Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box from Steam for just $37.12.
Pandora’s Box is a comprehensive collection of the four mainline titles in the Borderlands franchise in addition to all of their corresponding DLC, including cosmetic items and other extras, which total a $664.47 value. Along with the FPS entries attached to the Borderlands license, Pandora’s Box also includes Tales from the Borderlands from Telltale Games, which has exponentially better writing and character development than what we got from the movie.
Regardless of how you feel about the Borderlands franchise’s particular brand of occasionally cringe-inducing humor, the four mainline titles have distilled the looter-shooter formula into a highly concentrated, and incredibly engaging (Steam Deck playable) experience that’s a good time whether you’re playing alone or with friends.
