In Dragon’s Dogma 2, some quests you encounter will have a time period in which they must be completed. There could be dire consequences if you don’t – or perhaps if you do.
How to tell what quests are time-sensitive in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Not all quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are time-gated (even if the NPC suggests that time is a factor), but you won’t know until you accept it. It’s important to not accept too many quests at once in case you can’t manage everything.
Note that you can turn down time-sensitive quests and there won’t be any consequences, the clock will only start ticking once you’ve decided to accept it. So feel free to reject NPCs, just make a note to get around to it later and you’ll be fine.
Upon accepting a quest, make sure to check your quest log. If there is an hourglass sigil next to the quest’s name, then it needs to be completed in a timely manner. The window for such quests appears to be a day, but try to get them done as soon as you can.
If you fail to complete a time-sensitive quest in time, then all that typically happens is you miss a reward. Although some NPCs’ lives will be in balance, and they may be forfeit for you not interfering. Although you can always use a Wakestone to revive them. Also, NPCs may take your failure to uphold your promise personally and may take a disliking toward you.
Finally, if you are struggling to complete a time-sensitive quest and don’t want to fail it, then you can go into the rift and filter Pawns that have knowledge of that quest to guide you to its completion. Just make sure to set that quest as a priority first.
