Players subscribed to Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass can play Space Engineers on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC from today, while Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members also have the ability to stream it via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Space Engineers launches into Xbox Game Pass today
Space Engineers is a sandbox game through and through, giving you the tools to build spaceships to pilot them across the vastness of space to gather resources and survive, as well as explore numerous planets on foot or via buildable wheeled vehicles to establish outposts for your brave space explorers. Keen Software House says it has focused on realism, setting Space Engineers some 60 years in the future so you’re using slightly more advanced equipment than the technology NASA currently uses.
While Space Engineers is a survival game, there is a creative mode available if you’d rather just dive in for some interstellar space tourism, whether in single-player or multiplayer. It focuses on creativity but has everything you need to play it as a survival shooter if you’d prefer — you don’t need to take on the role of a soldier if you don’t want to; just build a war machine.
If you do decide to jump in for some fun, be aware that it’s far from an easy completion, as estimates suggest it takes between 150 and 200 hours to unlock all 30 Space Engineers achievements. There’s also one extra achievement linked to its Frostbite Pack DLC, which we don’t currently have an estimated completion time for.
